I have an 06 Yamaha 150 4 stroke. While put on the water today the tilt/trim button on the throttle stopped working. Motor will go up and down with the switch on the cowling. Is this an easy fix, or should I take it in? Any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem with my stratos throttle. The switch was in the thumb position at the top of the handle. One of the wires had been rubbing against metal and over time the wire broke. I had to remove the handle by loosing an Allen screw that was on the bottom of the handle If you get the handle off there should be three wires - power, up, and down (black, green and red). Hope this helps!

Probably a bad switch. Pretty easy fix. Just buy a new one and install. Cost me about $39 at Moncks Corner Marine.

The Yamaha’s that I have wired use blue, green and red. Blue up, green down. Sky is blue and grass is green. Nothing much to replacing the switch. First check for 12V on the red wire right at the switch. If you have 12V there, hold the up switch and check for 12V on the blue wire. Then the down switch. If no 12V anywhere, got bad wiring. If 12V goes into the switch and doesn’t come out, got a bad switch, if 12V comes in and goes out on both, bad wiring or bad ground connection.
