Boat is sitting at Muddy Bay Marine in Newberry. The problem is hydraulic. They got the motor to move up and down, but one of the cylinders is in need of rebuild, and they were having difficulty finding a kit due to the age of the motor but are continuing to try. A new tilt/trim system is over $3000 according to what I’ve seen; so here’s hoping they can find a solution. Still, that would be better financially than repowering. I’m sitting here trying not to “borrow trouble.”
Do what we do with hydraulic cylinders all the time. Take all the parts to a hydraulic shop and have them match it up. Here in Charleston Allen and Web or Costal Hydraulic can get you the parts you need. Won’t be in a little “kit” but hey if it works…
I was thinking just what reelshock said. Take the cylinder off and take it to a hydraulic cylinder shop. There are many around columbia. And I would say most have all the parts in stock. Not to mention they rebuild them everyday.
take the cylinder to a hydraulic shop. wouldnt imagine it being more than 1-200$

fogman --ive got a good condition tilt and trim for my 89 yami 150-- dont know if it will work on your yr model but if u want it i will sell it for 175- mebbe less if i can get some good fishing advice on murray! i bought it off ebay a few yrs back when i thought mine was about to croak for 200–turned out all i needed was some fluid and to learn to deal with a slow leak–let me know if you are interested–803 480 3413
Poboy, I didn’t hear from them today. I’ll give them a call mid-day tomorrow if I they don’t get back to me. Something tells me that unit might work. For that price, I’ll give you all the fishing advice you need if we end up doing business. I’ll also mention the options you other guys mentioned if they call to give bad news… A shiny new F-200 would be sweet on the back of the Hardcore Xpress. But Lord! I don’t need another payment.
Just got it back. Turned out to be a cap and seals and not a rod assy. All my indigestion was caused by not talking directly to the mechanic. Back in action for $160!!
Good to hear. If you ever have problems n need a spare till u get yours rebuilt I got one collecting dust n my shop. The 88 175hp is the same as the 89 150hp. Actually have several spare parts. Always good to b prepared for the worst. Hate to lose valuable fishing time to equipment being down!

Very good news, my friend! I think you like fishing almost as much as me. Can’t imagine you being off of the water for very long. I caught fish Saturday after the snow and again Sunday afternoon. It seemed like the snow really triggered an agressive bite by the green fish.
Poboy, I asked my mechanic if your 89 t/t would be compatible with my 87 175 ETLH. He said he seriously doubts it. But for your kind offer, just pm me if you need more specific fishing info than I might give on the public forum.
Rick, I’m planning to fish Saturday whenever I get up from another late night of Airport Eagle football. Spoon, we should be on for early Tuesday. Remarkably, I haven’t wet hooks in almost 2 weeks. Starting to get the shakes!
