Looks like someone ran into one of the unmarked timber poles in the intracoastal waterway between the Ben Sawyer and the IOP bridges. It’s between marker 118 and 119, on the right headed north. At night this thing is probably a real nasty hazard.
Be careful in the ditch!

The pole is (was) ICW green marker 119. It is at the junction of Swinton Creek and the ICW.
For the locals, it is referred to as the shoe marker. If you observe it at a lower tide, you will find a shoe nailed to the pole hence the name used by locals. The history of the shoe, I do not know. It has been there for many years.
Does anyone know more details about the shoe?
Coast Guard or DNR, whoever has the responsibility, needs to repair it before someone has an accident.

First of all it amazes me that those things get hit as often as they do but, it is disappointing to see how long it takes to get repaired. I don’t understand why all markers don’t have lights on them. Even a low wattage solar light would be better than nothing. Crap, the government has $ for everything else it seems.
That one or the one closer to BS bridge was hit twice last year.
