After looking at my journal from last year, I went and tried to catch a striper on the fly on Lake Murray in February and i think the shad run in the tailrace was sometime in March, is that right? If so does anyone have a rough estimate of the times frames for these 2 runs? That shad thing wasn’t my favorite but i got a buddy that wants to go try it, and I still want to catch a striper on the fly!
Better hurry for the shad. They’ve been here for a while, not sure how much longer they’ll stay.

Water temps have dropped on Murray and the fish are not in their normal March mode. They are eating larger shad and the herring bite should pick up within the next few weeks…had a few follows.

Hey Reel Karma, I was hoping you would chime in, I have you cell # but didn’t remeber what your name on the board was. Last year I came down and you were so nice to put in and show us around a bit, was looking at making the run down next Saturday to try and fish, weather looks nice but in addition to stripers are the bass and crappie eatin? they sure were this time last year. Hope to hear from you and maybe see you at your state park if/when we make a run down!
