Opinions?
I have had bucks investigate it before. Some on the interweb say its scares the bucks away. I have never experienced that.
Thoughts?
Not a fan of scents, used them a few times during the rut and seen small bucks check them out but the negatives of spreading human scent while deploying tinks or whatever flavor you like keeps me away from them. Sure, you will see dumb 1-2yr old bucks come in, but I’ve never seen a mature buck come in to investigate Tinks, special golden estrus, or any other scent I’ve put out.
I believe in the buck bomb. I shake them up, pull the pin, and throw it like a grenade. Killed a few bucks during the rut using it.
Tinks works. Killed several big ones using it. Buck bombs work, very, very well, too. Need a bit of wind to carry the scent…which also helps disperse any scent I leave when setting. Cruising bucks get dumb, too…but not downwind from u dumb.
Killed enough bucks using Tinks, to know it works. I use calls along with it though. I set canisters out so a buck that wants to circle my calling down wind, will smell the Tinks before he gets straight down wind of me.
I have killed lots of bucks using Tinks. I have had many types of responses with it. From deer running in as soon as I put it out before I could get in to the stand to them coming in casually. I am a believer, but I have had success with it.
Never had much luck using scents or calling. I set up where I know they’re working and wait quietly and still. Too much activity around where a mature buck lives that is out of place will spook him. The dumb young ones will come though.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I read this the other day which in turn inspired me this A.M. to go a little crazy with the Tinks in a spray can. I had one 4 point come out and go bananas trying to find the source of it. zig zaging allover the road, at one point it stopped and licked the branched where the nozzle got stuck spraying everywhere. On a side note the spray can is noisy and sounds completely out of place in the woods at 530 am.
