It is the first shark I’ve ever caught, I was getting a whole bunch of pinfish, spots, and spotfin croaker with shrimp on a sabiki rig and I guess this guy wanted some too. I’m guessing a spinner shark, I wish I’d taken a more complete picture but I wanted to get him back in the water fast. [edited title so im4usc doesn’t have a heart attack]
I have fished that spot a few times this year. If you go to the end of the pier, cast out straight ahead a chunk of mullet on a carolina rig and you will end up catching a WAY larger shark. I have caught my fare share of large sharks from that spot while targeting redfish.
you guys are definitely right, I just noticed the fin tip color and now I looked up pictures online of sharpnose I notice the shape of the head, gills, and those spots
good enough reason to never ever open a thread by electric bass…
good lord…
Somebody’s awfully grumpy, if a little joke really works you up that much then by all means never click on anything I post again, I don’t think anybody loses in that situation. Since I’ve started fishing here in Charleston (where I’ve lived my entire adult life), one thing that’s kept me interested is the helpfulness and kindness of strangers (on this site and out on the water) as I’m learning. I knew people like you lurked around here from browsing the threads I just hoped I wouldn’t have to experience it.
People may not like this, but when it was legal to do so we would catch 30-40 of those pesky things, fillet the the two little pieces off the side fresh out the water and have a nice fish fry with them later that day.
From what the grandkids and other kin folk caught off the dock a few weekends ago, I don’t think it hurt the numbers. They are fun to catch and keep the little ones entertained, but get aggravating if your trying for some meat fish. imo.
