We will be staying in North Myrtle Beach in a few weeks and I want to take my 6 yr old son fishing. Is there somewhere besides the big ocean piers that I can take him? At this age a boat trip is not practical. I was hoping for a spot on the river or ICW? What about the public boat ramps, is there bank access where we can fish? I called SCDNR and they recommended this web site as a source of information.
The public boat landing on 53rd street in cherry grove has a dock that you can fish off of. Good luck because it is usually packed.

Or hire a guide. Shallow Minded Charters, Capt. Smiley and a few others on here do great trips for kids!!! My kids have the most fun pulling in Spanish Macks while trolling the beach!!! Good luck, and if a charter is not an option, I’d recommend either 53rd pier or run down to Murrells Inlet and fish off the pier at Crazy Sister.
