I can’t speak to major things but first one is to buy a filter wrench… I had to have one to get mine off. If you’re talking about moving it, there’s a whole lot more to it. I ended up changing lines, nosels etc…

Other than that it’s mostly just pull it off and screw the new one back on… imho.

do you screw it back on empty?

You do not have to fill it but it would make it easier to prime.

Make sure you get the correct size wrench - more than one size.
I have a yami 115 4 stroke - you can put filter back on empty (less mess) and then pump bulb until tight. You can also see if you have any leaks as you prime.

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Gotta have a filter wrench!!! Or you will never get it off. Look for one that actually snaps onto a ratchet if it is in a tight place where you can not get to it with a traditional filter wrench. Righty tighty, Lefty loosy. Unscrew the old one and screw on the new one empty. I would put some two stroke motor oil on the rubber seal of the new filter to help get a tight seal to help prevent any leaks.

Once the new filter is in place pump your bulb to fill the filter. No mess that way to have to clean up.

Good luck!!
