tips on taping a net

What is the best way to tape a castnet for deephole shrimping?

I used three inch tape. Stretch the net as tight as you can, best if you have two people. Seems to open fuller like this. Short pieces worked better for me. Put a piece on the bottom then match it on the top.

Pretty simple, just don’t tape over the lines.

Or buy one already taped: http://castnets.com/gs-1000-with-tape.html

Long Enuff

I usually hang the net from the drive through opening on my shop. The weights should be touching the floor. Then slide a 5’ table close to the net. You should be able to lay the bottom edge of the net on the table, the length of the table. Tape the outside of the net for one length of the table. Flip the bottom edge of the net laying on the table and then tape the inside (do not cut tape yet!). Now, with the net still flipped, slide the net the length of the table and tape that length. This allows you to tape 10’ sections at a time. I use 3" premium clear shipping tape.

Goob - Where did you find the three inch tape?
The only three inch tape I can find is the metal tape.
I wouldn’t think that would work since you can’t
“bend it” around the bottom of the net at the lead line.
Did you use the metal tape
successfully or did you
find another tape more like duct
tape that has some give in it?

It was something like duct tape. I know it was black. My dad gave me the roll and he is in the heating and air business.

3M transparent duct tape works the best
