Titling a motor with no title?

Bought a skiff that has a motor on it that did not come with a title. I bought it for boat only but engine is to nice to part put. I got a title for the boat but a bill of sale for the motor. How can I go about getting the motor titled in SC?

Boat and motor came from Louisiana.

Thanks Jason

See item#5.
It is simple take a pic of the plate on the motor that has the serial number & other info on it.
If you want to make sure just call DNR, they are very helpful.

I had to take a picture, place an ad in local newspaper and write a certified letter to the last known owner(if there is one) in order to get the title.

Wouldn’t go thru the hassle again.

I did not have to do all that. I had a bill of sale, took that pic, & sent in all the paper work & that was about it.

I didn't have the BOS hence the touble

Without that it would be a nightmare.

I’ve had to go through the titling processes its really not as bad as people claim. A few phone calls and some fees. From reading others opinions I felt like David going to face goliath but it was really no big deal at all.

Its an out of state motor. Take bill of sale with picture of vin to DNR and they will issue you a title on the spot.

It was very easy since I had the correct paperwork. I had the bill of sale, it was notorized, picture of serial number and the correct DNR paperwork for new title filled out. They ran the series number to verify it wasn’t stolen and in about 10min I had the title in my name.

Thanks for the help!
