TLD vs TLD IIA

I am getting ready to buy 4 new 30’s and really like the TLD. I have seen the TLD IIA on the internet, but have never laid my hands on one. I am going to use these reels for dolphin. If anyone has any experience w/ the TLD IIA I would like your opinion.

Thanks,

Thanks guys. I will buy the two speed. Hazmat, I see you have a SH 260. I bought a new one in 2006. Great boat!!! I really enjoyed mine. I sold it last year in one day. I listed it on Craigslist without a picture and sold it the next day, for the asking price. I had a really good experience w/ Sea Hunt and Joel Moss at the factory. They are 1st class.

I wouldn’t buy either TLD model Go for the one speed TYRNOS. Unless you plan to spool with #50 plus line the low gear will never be used. When using #30 mono you will set your drag at 5 to 7 pounds at the button. No need for low gear at this drag setting. The TYRNOS has a 5:1 ratio, verses 4:1 for the two speed TLD. It may not seem like much of a difference, but when taking the line belly out, it means the difference between staying tight or not.

If you’re not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at forty you have no brain.

Forgot to say I have 6 two speed 30 TLD’s for sale. I’m going to the Tyrnos 30’s

I have both and have used them alot the only real plus of the 2-speed is the handle
You can only get about 2#s more of strike drag on the 2-speed which really doesnt matter with its line capacity
I really cant remember a time ive actually used the low gear either
If you go with the 25s take off the handle and throw it in the trash and buy some bigger aftermarket handles

I agree w/ EB Edisto.
Single speed for 30’s handle fun fishing from New England to LA.
2 speed on 50’s and larger when critters are expected to exceed 300#, can get deep on ya and your line is 80# and up.
