Any reccomendation to someone that could intall a new trolling motor? (Riptide ST 101, 36v, ipilot). The whole thing from positioning on the bow to running cables to the back, plug, batteries etc. Better if in the Irmo/Ballentine/Chapin area. I wanted to do it myself but chickened out:frowning_face:. Rather spend a little money than regret it later on. Please let me know.

Not a hard task there Jorge. Save your money and tackle it yourself. Only gotta drill 4 holes and bolt it on. Your boat manufacturer should have rope in the pull tube which should make the wire pulling a breeze…probably take about an hr if you dont have to make 3 runs to Lowes like i normally do on boat projects… ha
Yeah, you make It sound simple Chip!I know you can put a, boat together! If I am able to run them cables to the back of the boat, I think I can handle it! Unfortunately my boat was not meant to have a TM, so I don’t know of any tubing for cables. Boat is a deep-V, 21+ feet long, that’s why I have got the 60in long TM. I am going to check It really good today and see if I can get something done by myself:question:. Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks guys, I have decided to take the “DIY” route so I we will see what happens. Today, it was just reading the manual, webs, you tube and looking at the TM Tomorrow hands on time! Thanks again! !

You will get so much gratification from this. Just knowing you did it. Also down the road when something goes wrong, you won’t have to pay someone to fix it. You will already know what you are getting into…good luck. If you get stuck give me a yell.
I would suggest installing a quick disconnect mount, then mount the TM to it. If you ever have to take it off say for maintenance, not a problem. You can put a lock on it to keep it secure. Also, I highly recommend installing a three prong stainless twist plug and socket. Those three prong push in plugs tend to corrode and become a pain.
also get the recommended amperage breaker for it. trust me somehow or another i have blown a logic board since I’m hardwired. Likely when we connected the charger and didnt disconnect the TM. So I added a breaker from west marine and it pops and throws out a little yellow lever you can reset by pushing in instead of blowing my logic board again. also when I’m done fishing i just push the button on it to “trip” it so i know its not draining batteries. Just one way I did mine without plugs as I am not a fan of those plugs unless you plan to remove it a lot.

I would recommend getting a hydraulic wire crimper for making the connections at the battery. Harbor Freight has them for a reasonable price (especially with a coupon). I just installed a trolling motor on my boat. Best upgrade yet.

I agree not a hard task but it is more than an hour or at least it was in my boat. I had a friend help me that is very mechanically inclined and he actually did most of the “thinking” and I just helped.
I put batteries in my console and also the breaker in the console as well
Another thing I did not see you mention but make sure you get an onboard charger where you can just plug it in if you did not already
