I have a 2004 Sea Pro with twin F-150 Yamaha’s hanging off the back. I have been deployed most of the last 3 years, so my Boat is shot from sitting. I got orders to move to Waycross, Ga (recruiter), and debating on fix it up and sell, or sell as is.
I have a 22’ Glacier Bay that tows better for the longer drive to the ocean. So I really don’t need to keep the Sea Pro anymore.
Question is sell as is for about $9k, or drag it to Ga and fix it up and sell for more. When parked, everything worked, but time Gremlins have been banging away for years. Here is all that I know is needed.
Engine Cowlings faded
Ignition key bracket broke so keys are under dash… but have part to fix packed away somewhere.
Hydro steering freezed up, should be easy fix
Both motors need full service done (plugs, oil, water pumps, etc)
Fuel tanks drained
Spider stress cracks corner splash wells
Detailed bad
Trailer needs rebuilt
No batteries
Thoughts? I really want to take with me, but the trailer is a huge issue.
Thanks
Chris
Certainly no expert here but, I’d figure out what it would cost you money wise and time wise and then figure out if you would get your money back in a sale. If it is break even or less, there is your answer. Also, is this something you really want to tackle or do you just want to get out from under it?
“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?
what model is the boat?
I can help you with before and after values.
on select boats we offer a service where we repair the boat, then sell the boat, and take repair cost out of the sale.
(center console, late model, Yamaha powered, structurally sound)
if you want to take it and you have somewhere that wont break the bank to store it while you are there, take it with you, why not?
I was stationed in Saint Marys, GA for a while - great fishing down in SE GA. Waycross is prob 30-45 min from the salt? If you want to fish mostly inshore a 25 ft is prob too big since there is a ton of marsh down there, but if you’re confident in your motors it could get you into some awesome offshore fishing. Little further run to deep water than the Charleston area, but definitely possible in a 25 w twins, and way less fishing pressure.
I can tell you from painful experience that getting your trailer in good working order is worth every penny if you decide to keep it. Up and down I-95 is an easy haul though.
Chris, store it at my house. Come pick it up when you’re situated and ready to move it down to Waycross. I may even service the motors and test run it a time or two for you in the meantime
