To the guy who ran over my balloons...

Just a hint buddy, if you see balloons off shore and a boat not to far from them, they are probably related in some way.

No, we were not having a birthday party offshore.

You took about 100 yards of line off 2 reels and two 10ft leaders made of 275lb stainless cable before we could cut them, so I’m sure you’re having a good day too.

Thanks for not stopping while we waved and blew the horn.

??What the hell would possess someone to run that close to you offshore? I kind of hope they need a new lower unit right about now!

The only other boat for at least a mile. My dad said it on the spot.

We got a whole wide ocean out here, but you gotta be right there.

The moment he passed by I heard 2 balloons pop and had that O.S. moment.

I bet that it’s a rental boat.

What kind of boat? Roughly where at?

Almost to the Edisto 60. We spotted birds and stopped over a bait pod along the way probably around 45ft of water. I didn’t even see fishing gear on board. At least 3 people were on the boat.

Looked like one of those oversized ski boats. Probably around 21ft.

No way they heard your horn over your optimax.

It was at idle, so you’re probably right about that. They didn’t hear my finger either.

I’m feeling better about it now. I lost 10 bucks in tackle, but I bet that cable is wrapped up in there really good.

I can’t image how rough that was on the bait though. I hook them so they will survive if they don’t get eaten… but that’s a wild way to go.

Ha ha. Thanks for that good laugh. I’m guessing they pulled free (free is a relative term) before the hooks made it into the props. For the bait, a bad end to their day was pretty much guaranteed.

Muddy, you just lost me on your statement about hoping the bait survived…

You should have dumped a whole spool on them.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
