Today, a Carolina Jewel!

Lost a great friend this week, Mr Roy Dockery, 81 passed tuesday at the V.A. hosp. He loved to fish and never met someone he didn’t make his friend! He kept us in squid and shrimp and was glad to make lead weights for anyone that came along. His family plan on spreading his ashes at dynamite hole in the morning.God speed and fair winds to a gentle man.
Auggie Dog and I headed out on a flat sea today to try some bottom #s. we carried no live bait or cicars so as not to be tempted. had a limit of good bsb’s in a hr. keep culling and at 10:00 had a good limit, all over 15" and most at 19/20". could not find any triggers and only caught one trash fish (kelp bass) all day. we drifted off our #s up to 1/2 mile and the fish still crushed us. its good when you catch two at a time and another is hanging on the weight on the way in. water was very cold at 48deg out to 70’. we spent the next few hrs looking for new bottom and thinking abour Roy! ride in was great, looking forward to next trip knowing he is out there with us!

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

Life passes… but memoriesof times shared with those we care about live forever…sorry for the loss of your friend…but glad you were able to be a part of his life and Im sure you’ll always remember him. today as you say was a wonderful day to be on the water…we too had a great time…

Dear BC,

Gentle men are rare. I’m glad you have had the opportunity to share your life with him. He sounds like a great one.

My prayers are sent to those left behind. My prayers are sent to you and yours.

This appears to be a wonderful opportunity to remember him every time you have a successful fishing trip, everytime you have a warm return to port afternoon, everytime you want to think of him when your rig tying skills are awesome and when they fail…everytime you remember him…it will be good.

I promise you that I will pray for you and those that loved him before I rest this evening.

Sleep peacefully knowing that he is in good hands.

Roy is now fishing with the greatest fisher of all, and that is good.

Ed,
Sorry for your loss. He sounds like a great man that all should have had an opportunity to share time with.
Glad you had a great day on the water! It seems to be very fitting and I am sure Roy had a little to do with it.
Wish I could have been there!!
