Today’s my day off and I am going to go back out to the same spot I limited out on trout earlier this week and see if i cant add a couple of reds to the list as well. Leaving here around 10:30 am and will post later how I did. Going out of the landing near mosquito beach is what someone told it was called.
How did ya do Eric? All the hard fishing I do and haven’t got a limit of trout since last November… hope you realize how good or lucky you were:)
Must have been lucky on monday as I only caught 1 trout for the day today. The menhaden were no where to be found, so I was fishing with minnows. The wind kind of sucked and I think I got lucky with the 1 trout I got today. Saw some mullet running the bank jumping the top water so I quickly tossed the popper over and I caught a barely legal 14 in trout. I am assuming the fish followed the bait where ever they went. Minnows I feel are only marginal bait and the shops are always out of live shrimp. Really like fishing the hadens but seems like its just dump luck if they are around you in the yak or they are not. Its not like a boat where you can cruise miles looking for them.
Next day off is monday and we’ll see what happens then
did you check Crosby’s for the shrimp I got some there the other day
Eric
mud minnows or finger mullet under a popping cork are both good baits. Live shrimp are great, just not available 100% of the time…even throwing the cast net.
Good news is that it’s June. Shrimp are in the creeks. Throw the net and you’ll likely find juvie spots, small croakers, and silver perch too. Those are all like crack to redfish.
