Today's Report

Pretty slow fishing, but I managed 7 with only 2 shorts. 1 was right at 21 inches but fat. The other keepers were 25-28, and I kept 3 of them for dinner later this week. I fished from 9:30 until 3:30 from Barstow down to around Spinners. Planers, cork, and downrods were the methods in 12-30 feet of water. I also jerked a few perch before putting it on the trailer at Acapulco. Nice day, but the wind was tough!

Sounds like another fun, if tough day. For me, every day fishing is a great day, especially when I’m with good friends. I usually do my best in the tougher largemouth tournaments when everyone else seems to quit trying. Tough days are where I tend to concentrate harder and learn the most. Even if some of those days all I seem to learn is that maybe I should have stayed home and watched fishing on TV.
Fog, I’d like to make a trip with you to Monticello. Maybe you can get your Dad to come along? You both need to see my “home made” fish call in action. After one test run it seems to be working really well. We’ll need to schedule the trip between your and my tournaments.
If this flu bug hadn’t been so mean and you had room, I’d have tried to invite myself along yesterday. I had the flu shot, which is supposed to atleast lessen the symptoms. If it did (lessen them) then thank goodness I got the shot because it has been rough. Can’t imagine how it will be for the folks who didn’t get the shot and catch this stuff. My wife has it as well. Rough couple of days with us taking turns whining about how bad we feel!! I’d much rather take turns winding in fish!!

“I may be going to hell in a bucket. But at least I’m enjoying the ride”

I replied to you Loon… Spoon, Diddy will be out of commission for a while. He had knee replacement on his left leg, and will be rehabbing for the next 3 months. Then, he’s having the right knee done. He’s on the 6th floor of Baptist and is in good spirits. Everyone’s good thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. He’s in great shape for a man of 75! Spoon, I’ll give you a call in the next couple of days.

Good for him, will be in my prayers!

Wow Fog, Give him my best regards. He’s one tough rascal and a good friend. You know he’ll be in our prayers. How long before he gets home? From personal experience, I know hospital beds tend to get old real fast.
I’m finally fever free so I plan to be back at work tomorrow. I’m still getting good reports on deep perch, largemouth and stripers from the Johns creek area and further down the lake.
At some point in time I’m going to have to try to find some “shallow” largemouth. Most of my bass club members will probably be fishing pretty shallow by the end of this month.
I did fairly well as a co-angler a couple of years ago by fishing the deep side of the boat from Feb thru April. Worst finish I had that year in 4 tournaments was a 6th place. Then came surgery, chemo, etc. and missing the rest of that years tournaments. Now I’m healthy and ready to have a good year of fishing again. I just wish I could get a couple of the guys I’ll be fishing with to hit the deeper water for an hour or two if the shallow bite slows down.

Spoon, he could be up there for just a couple more days or another week or so. I just got back from up there. He is tired and sore from the the therapy sessions but hanging tough. I’ll try to call sometime tomorrow and give you his room and phone number. He appreciates any calls and visits.
