I do not know anything about these motors. 1996 model 2 stroke with console steering on a 16ft. skiff. Good Bad Ugly??
I used to work at a dealership in Florida that sold Tohatsu and I have a 90 TLDI
Tohatsu has been around since 1956.
They are the second largest producer of outboards in the world. Mercury outboards from 30 hp and below are rebadged Tohatsu’s and all Nissan outboard engines in North America are Tohatsus with a Nissan decal.
I would check the compression and if ran ok and the compression was good i would go for it.
Go fish and hunt far and wide day by day - farther and wider - and rest thee by many brooks and hearth-sides without misgiving. Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth. Rise free from care before the dawn, and seek adventures. Let the noon find thee by other lakes, and the night overtake thee everywhere at home. There are no larger fields than these, no worthier games than may here be played.
Thanks for the info Uncle! I saw in NADA that they had been around for a long time. Hard to think they would have that long of a track record if they weren’t any good.
Bring on the 2-3 chop!

I know this is a pretty old topic, but still feel this way? Thinking about getting this motor.
