TomFoolery Friday 5/20 at the 226

Fished with Tom and friends (Chip & Chris from Utah, Mark, Chris and Cain) on Friday 5/20. Left around 6am and had a very smooth ride on 2’ seas. Dropped 2 lines in and fast trolled from 140’ out to 226. Dropped the riggers and set out baits and trolled out to 450’ or so (78 deg water). No temp breaks - gradual temp changes: 78 deg past the ledge, 75 deg inside. Picked up a dolphin off a lawn chair, and another along a pretty good looking weed line (1/2 deg temp change from side-to-side). Had a billfish swim through our baits and hit nothing (even dropped back 1 bait) and a couple of short strikes. Circled in the 226 parking lot with everyone else and saw few boats with fish (radio dead too). Saw a lot of porpoise and no more hits after 11:15 or so.

Nice ride home with fun crew. Thanks Tom!

BTW - If you’re looking for a luxury fishing platform, Tom’s 38 Tiara is for sale. Twin Cummins, 14’ wide and beautiful couches in the cockpit between battling fish. Huge fish box, wash-downs, sinks and built-in in everything on a great, friendly express layout. I call it “gentleman fishing”.

Thanks, Captain Ross
