Stayed in close today as Im headed to Fla.tues. for the minnie season. Got to our spot at 8:30 and the Spades were on top waiting for us. We were wore slap out at 10:00 with the cooler full and arms sore from the battles with light tackle and hungery Spades. Kept 25 and lost another doz. as we had a hard time keeping them from heading to the bottom & cutting us off. Took new son in law on his frist good dive and it was fantastic! he put the spring steel to his frist fish, saw a turtle sleeping inside a wreck, a ray with 7t0 8ft. wing span laying in the wreak and hundreds of spades swimming with us as if we weren’t even there. Awesome vis, no current & back on the hill at 2:00! Outstandig day with Waterboy, THE BUG & butterbean. 100’ dives this week for the large longustas in Pt. Saint Lucie with the son.
Hey bug catcher,
Thanks for the invite yesterday. I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun on light tackle. That was a day to remember for a long time. Thanks again.
Kevin looks dazed and confused in that one shot in the front yard. Nice haul! Ben and Dree found about another 60 bugs in around 20ft of water. It’s on!
If the fish won’t bite, strap on a tank go down and make em!
I see a sheepshead down there too! catch that on the reef? or near that oyster loaded pier?
and whats the ruling on tying to the reef markers? I’m assuming they probablly don’t want you to, but I’m just trying to make sure-and look out for some others who also might not know…
YOU BETTER NOT LET DNR SEE THESE PICTURES, WITH THAT ANCHOR ROPE TIED TO THE REEF MARKER, THAT IS A NO NO. IF YOU DID NOT KNOW, THEN YOU BETTER ASK SOMEBODY NEXT TIME. ALL THOSE SMILES WILL BE WHEN YOU HAVE TO PAY THAT HEFTY FINE.
I’M INTO CORNMEAL AND GREASE NOT CATCH AND RELEASE! Little Henry
That rope looks like it is just dangling from the reef marker to me. I know the Bug Catcher well and he doesnt play like that. Very good day on and below the water.
what reef did you catch those on? I usually go out to lowcountry anglers reef and do well with the spades. I want to get out there this week if this wind will ever quit blowing
You aint kidding about the picture police; I wish i was joining the crew in Pt. SL this week but couldnt pull the right strings with work. Im looking forward to the Bug Catcher bringing back some Bugs for the ole tummy.
not to be that guy or anything…But what is the point of keeping all those fish. It makes a great pick and all… The thing is we all crush spades when we go for them… But if we all kept them all there would be none left… Dont want to be an ass but it is something to think about we only have one world.
2 words. MEAT HUNTER. When i go fishing i look to put food on the table. The more fish i catch the more fish i get to eat. All those fish that Bug Catcher caught were split between 3 families. Which means 3 families have a freezer full of fish. All those fish are vaccumed pack and will be eaten, nothing will go to waste. If i dont put them in the boat someone else will. On the other hand, i do see your point of view.
Another thing you might want to think about is the limit on Spades are 20 per person per day. We could have caught 80 legally, but only kept 25. Not that bad if you ask me.
that is a beautiful bunch of fish. I am jealous being 100 miles from the water. we pay taxes to fish, and pay the people to watch over them. So if they do there job we can do our job and </font id=“size4”>EAT THEM. food chain top of it
