TB, good stuff, I’m gonna try that this weekend.
Here’s a newb question. I didn’t know you should have the paddles rotated. How should that be set up? I noticed an extra set of holes in the paddle shaft, but I have been putting them in-line.
One more question. How do you make a tether for the paddle shaft, and do I need one?
Thx

Rotating or feathering the blades helps with 3 things.

You are awesome. BTW how do you avoid death by wife with all the kayaks you own.

Never have more than 5 at the house and always sell them for a breakeven when it’s time to change.

check out Too Busy’s Tech Tips on youtube
Good tips there Too Busy espicially about the gripping the paddle only with your “control” hand and letting the other one stay loose around the paddle shaft, definitly saves ones wrists and elbows. Also for those that use a asymetrical paddle blade, be sure to use it with the “tips” up allowing the end of the blade enter and leave the water parallel to it, lot more efficient that way.
Optiker, if your ever in the surf with your kayak you definitly want a paddle leash that runs from the bow of kayak to center of paddle shaft with a section of shock cord in it. That’s more to keep your kayak with you if you take a spill in the surf but can still let go of paddle if it gets too dicey hanging on to it. For fishing I would want a leash on the paddle as well tho, mainly to keep the paddle close by if dropped over in the heat of the moment. I just take a piece of shock cord, double it over and tie it snug to center of paddle with a foot or so extra that I clip onto bow line or just wrap shock cord around paddle shaft to keep it out of way if not using it.
