Took a Trip to Jurassic World

I hit some docks today that I haven’t fished since last summer.I named it Jurassic World ( previously Jurassic Park) because the fish are monstrous and fight like crazy. I netted some finger mullet and one jumbo shrimp before heading out. No action on live finger mullet, so I sent the shrimp out. 30 seconds later the rod takes off. I couldn’t get it out of the rod holder it was taking line so fast. Finally get it out, take one crank, and just like that I reel in a shredded leader with no hook. Decided to use cut bait and that was the ticket. The next hour saw a surprisingly small 21", a 28", and a 32" which gave an epic fight. Took me thirty minutes to chase it around a stretch of docks and ended up having to swim under the last dock to get my line free. Live 5 weather app said there was a “severe storm warning” and after getting stuck in last weeks storms I wasn’t going to take a chance. Of course…nothing has happened. Despite getting of the water early, it was a great day!

A first for me…barracuda in the cast net

Good stuff Connor. Is the dock of the house we talked about part of “Jurassic World”? Looking to get out in the next couple days

Looks like you had some fun. I have never caught a barracuda inshore around here.

I could be wrong, but I think that’s a sennet rather than a barracuda. They’re not uncommon inshore.

Here’s one from yesterday
