Went up to the club last weekend for an overnight camping trip (low of 48) and arrived early enough to get in the tree for about an hour. So my 4yo daughter put on her favorite purple jacket my 6yo son his orange jacket and we headed off to the tree stand. Now, one would assume that bringing a rifle along would be a waste of time. However the stars magically a lined! The kids were relatively still and quiet, somewhat eager to shoot a deer and best of all the deer were moving. 1 small buck and 17 does in an hour hunt. We had so many does milling around that is was hard figure out exactly which one my wife was going to shoot. She got it done though and the kids enjoyed the moment.
Big’ol nanny! Congrats! Thanks for sharing.

Now that’s a post Everyone can enjoy and be envious of!! Sure wish I could get my wife involved in Hunting!!
Thank you for sharing! That’s a nice Nanny! Gonna be some good Eats.
What did she weigh? I’m guessing 120# ish…
That smile on your wife is priceless. It is a shame that so many never experience the wonderful experience that you just shared.
Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.
Thank you for all the compliments and yes I am a very lucky Man.
My wife is the one who wants to go camping she absolutely loves it. We have a cabin that we can stay in but she prefers to camp right next to the lake listening to the frog and night critters. No matter how cold it is. She grew up with a father and brother that hunt but never got into it until we started dating. She is very good with a rifle as well she has shot a few deer out past 250 yards. She also enjoys fishing… Lucky Man.
When it comes to hunting with small children. It was tough for me to learn how to “get over it” when I was with them. I try and only sit in 2 stands on the club so we are not giving a free education to all the deer. We get all the wiggles out before heading to the stand and have fun with it. The deer horn A.K.A. grunt call gets blown loud and frequently, binoculars get banged around the stand and getting down 5 min early before it is completely dark happens as well. My 6 yo is pretty good in the stand. It took 2 years of conversations but he can sit and look at a buck now and understand how he needs to move (sometimes)so he doesn’t spook it.
