Top Water Bite - Sunday

The trout and red topwater bite is getting better. My buddy from Columbia and I fished this past Sunday and had a solid day with the trout using artificial baits and managed to get this guy to boat after a long battle on a spook jr.

Is there really anything better than a big red taking a topwater?! Nice job.

May all your favorite bands stay together…

Nice fish C! Question for all - do you prefer in or outgoing for top water bite and why?

Fish to live.

Deltaone,

I would defer to those on this site that are far better fishermen than I am, but I throw topwater early in the am up until 8:00 or until the sun get up higher and later in the afternoon as it gets darker. That is typically when I have my best luck. As far as tide I like and outgoing tide for topwater.

For reds, it doesn’t seem to matter so much as getting it in front of their face. You also have to have a little luck. Sometimes they just won’t hit up top but then switch to a soft plastic and suddenly they’re all over it.

Nice job CT!
