This report is a little late but had some success on top water this weekend very early and late in the day. Tried a couple new to me baits a mirroprop and whopper plopper. Whopper plopper was getting crushed. I’m loving this early spring.
Nothing beats a topwater blow up.
Whopper Plopper in saltwater?
Using the big one or the smaller one?

I was throwing the small one. The fish I have been catching have been eating smaller baits like glass minnows. I figured that out when I snagged a glass minnow when fishing with a twitch bait. All the trout were fat but had empty bellies.

Except for a topwater blow up that leads to a hook up.
No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.
^^^^^^my boy gets it
leadenwahboy, they actually released a Saltwater Whopper Plopper.
Good to hear of a top water bite in March.

All they did was introduce some “saltwater colors” in the 130 size (5") and called it the “saltwater model.” Same hook hardware and same 4X strong #2 hooks (#4 on the 90) as the “freshwater” models. The 130 weighs 1 3/8oz so it’s a beast on a smaller spinning setup. Now if you prefer baitcaster setups, have at it. The 90 size (3 1/2") is only 1/2oz so it’s much more manageable on an inshore spinning setup. With the smaller size, speed is everything. Remember, you can never reel fast enough to get a bait away from a fish that truly wants it.

I started throwing topwater 2nd week in February. It’s been crazy and yes they most certainly seem to be chomping on the glass minnows at least where I’ve been at. Saw plenty of large Mullet and some menhaden. Even caught a good size flounder over weekend. Hard to believe its march 1. I am scared. Feel I like summer will start in April and it will be 125 degrees until November
