Top2Bottom 5/27 Offshore (added pics)

5/27/09
After running down a loose ground wire on the plotter, made it away from the Folly ramp at 4 am with just enough time/water to beat the lo tide out of the river (barely). Ran out the Stono and was greeted with a line of surf across the outer bar and procedded to bust on thru it and proceed onward to the Ed banks area, was a sloppy bumpy ride out. Ran out to 215ft and dropped lines in on a break and started draggin. Got hooked up to a double in bout 20 mins with both fish ending up in the box. Kept pushing out a bit and had pretty much non stop action with 4 triples all making it to box with two of us on board including one big ol mako shark(cut wire loose) that I wish I would have put a few rounds into it’s head! At one point it sort of slowed down a bit and my buddy asked “you want to try a bit deeper?” I said, “Sure, after we catch these two more fish right up ahead”(jokingly) sure enough, within 1 minute, two reels start a singin thier lovely tune to us and we put 2 more gaffers in the box. Had a few cutoffs with one on the d rigger that screamed like a hoo. :frowning:

A thank you to the CC fishing near us that gave us plenty room when we had a triple hooked up, appreciated it greatly!

Had a huge school of porpise come around us and play with the boat for about 10 mins. We never left more then about a 2 square mile area or so, bit of patchy scattered grass around, no real lines to them, lots of flyers. Ocean laid down and became slick as glass at one point with just some rollers rollin thru, managed to stay out of all storms, skirting between a few here and there (love the radar) Fished between 215ft and 400ft all day. Saw several other folks out there, chatted with a few on radio. Hooked up the last double at 2pm and called it a day and had a awesome ride back in. Had to wait about 45 mins or so on the tide to flood a bit before we could make it back in the Folly river and got boat hauled out, put away, cleaned, fish cleaned, bagged and in freezers. Whew, got to stop pullin them all nighters the nigh

Good day and good read.

Keep casting.

Got to love that kind of action with just two people. Congrats.

Awesome read and great day on the big pond! That 330 express is an impressive boat.

Still swimming with a foot of wire on a hook in it’s mouth still! No big sharks in the boat for me (been there, done that, no thnx), unless 12 guaged in the head first!!

T2B- nice mess of fish there, good job on em’. You have to love a 2 man crew, definately keeps it exciting…
btw- the Grady i fished you were asking me about is a different model.
I believe it is a 334 express. From your pictures the cockpit looks alittle different toward the front side. The stern and fishbox area look identical.

Good luck on them in the AM, that is a fine ride you have. I love fishin’ a GRADY.
