Top2Bottom Offshore 5-15 (pics)

Well, after watching the weather blow (literally) all last week and then looking at the next weather system coming in next week and deciding it would not be in others physical and mental best interest if I didn’t go fishing soon, decided friday was looking the best. After pulling an all nighter thurs night (another story) hooked up the boat to the truck at Folly at 3 am and crept all 33 ft of it down to the launch ramp to beat the morning lo tide. Made it out over the mud bank in the folly river and then had to bust thru the surf going over the outer stono bar. Got clear of the sea bouy and ran 25 out in a bumpy and confused swell/chop/potholes/speedbumps/ditches/. Dodged a few big ol thunderstorms on the way out and dropped lines in in around 600 ft.

Started picking up fish in the next 10 minutes including a triple header with just two of us on the boat and all 3 fish made it in da box! Worked the same area and kept on em till about 9am when the bite slowed down a bit. Spent about a hour working our way a bit north and ran across some broken weeds and another good temp break. Had another triple header on and got all 3 in da box again! Had two monster bulls on at the same time which we watched scream across the water and attack the lines only to have em both shake the hooks within a minute. Ended up filling the fish box and decided to call it a day as had another lo tide at folly to beat. We started pulling lines in and I grabbed the d rigger pole to trip it and before I could trip it another nice dolphin fish decides to eat it and make its way into the box. For some reason it seemed like all the dang fish were on steriods today as they were the wildest dolphin ever once they were in the boat, with numerous body slams, beatin em in the head with a bat and at one point I was sliding back and forth across the blood covered cockpit floor on my knees with a bat chasing a wild dolphin to all 4 corners of the cockpit that came off the gaff and hook as soon as he was brought into the boat, the thing was flippin back

Glad y’all had a good trip, Russ. See you Wed?

Russ, I am sure you know this, but you are more than welcome to fish with us anytime and I will try my best to send you home with a lobster. Please IM me your contact info so I can put you on the list. And you are right about operation. You can influence the ride of a cat quite a bit with a little experience. I’ve been in Glacier Bays for about 8 years now and I can tell you that I’ve learned a lot since year 1.
