135

Well i finally saved up and got my first yak, a ride 135. I already have a crate for it with some rod holders on it. I was wondering what the best rod holders to mount on it would be with a low budget. Any other rigging tips would be helpful. Maybe a few pics of your rigs would help too.

thanks

I picked up three cheap white pvc rod holders at a local shop and then mounted them to my crate. To mount the holders I took a 1x1 and cut it in 1/2 and put one piece on the inside and another on the outside and used stainles screws to to hold it all together. Has worked pretty well for over a year now. Gander mountain sports has a nylon tackel box with a plastic bottom that fits in the crate and keep everything dry even in the ride. Think I payed less than $30.00 for it.

Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet air intakes

I just got a Tarpon 120 a month ago and put some Scottys on it. Two behind the seat and one at my feet above the cup holder. Scottys are about $30 a peice, so they are steeper than a “do it yourself setup” but they are really nice if you are plannin on trollin. Time Out Sports will install them for free if you buy them there, however they are easy to install yourself. Just make sure you get stainless or galvanized screws.

Scottys are hard to beat but 25 or 30 bucks is a hit i’d mount pvc holders to a crate first if you want to save a few bucks
