If you think the cold spell was bad for ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ out what is in store for 2020 when they let off shore drilling in SC!
Well the good news is that they say we only have some gas deposits off SC AND the current pushes everything north.
I was worried when I heard Cuba was going to start drilling but have heard little more about that.

You do know they’re wanting to drill for natural gas, not crude oil?

Oh, your right Themechanic fracking for gas is way safer. “Environmental scientists have long sought complete information about the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing, saying they need it to thoroughly investigate water pollution. Contamination can occur when the chemicals are pumped underground, held in waste pits or trucked to water treatment plants before being discharged back into rivers and drinking water supplies.”
No need to truck waste anywhere…just dump it overboard.
I can get you a great price on those white suits if anyone is looking to purchase.
After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.
Seems like another pathetic attempt to rile everyone up. Five replies including mine tells me it didn’t work. This would be better posted in the “offshore” or “politics” section.
BTW: how many petroleum products were used to make the cell phone or computer you used to make your post?
According to NOAA an estimated 160,000 tonnes of oil naturally seeps into the ocean each year: https://response.restoration.noaa.gov/oil-and-chemical-spills/oil-spills/resources/what-are-natural-oil-seeps.html
If DeepWater Horizon spilled 4.9 million barrels. That’s 668,484 tonnes at 7.33 barrels per tonne. Divide that number by 160,000 and about every 4.17 years this much leaks into the ocean naturally. But hey, math is hard.

Yes indeed. Math is hard. What your math doesn’t take into account is that the NOAA figure is for “North America”. That includes the Atlantic, the Pacific (including Alaskan waters-which are massive), and the Gulf of Mexico for an entire year. Deepwater Horizon released 4.9 million barrels into the a small part of the Gulf of Mexico in 5 months. To compare natural seeps to the worst oil spill in history is, well, Fox News. AKA, fake news. Real facts are indeed hard.
