Will be taking a family vacation to topsail island Memorial Day week. Will bring the boat if the weather looks good if not will just surf fish. Anyone have any spots that are productive they would be willing to share. Creeks to 5nm off the beach??? We used to have a house there when I was a kid back before Fran and I have great memories of spending time on the water but we honestly never caught Bethany many fish. PM me if your willing

I’ve been going to Topsail for the last 15 years (in-law has a beach house) on various vacations all times of year. We enjoy how laid back it is, but the inshore fishing honestly sucks, at least in my experience. We’ve fished offshore (gulfstream) with some success and brought an inshore boat on a couple of occasions, but really done nothing.
The only thing I would suggest to even try is the south end. There are some creeks down there where you can sometimes catch small red drum or flounder drifting finger mullet or mud-minnows. The buoys in and out of both inlets will sometimes hold cobia.

Topsail Island Fishing has a facebook page, pretty informative with advise on navigating both inlets. I had some luck fishing the channel that goes back to Grants Oyster House, turn at the pink house and follow the sticks, if you can get real shallow, there should be something in the ditches under the big bridge. Trout were biting good up in Stones bay a while back, probably not so much now. They are going to have to close that whole area to commercial harvest and fix the inlet to ever get the fishing back like it was
