Topwater Thursday...

What should have been a stellar topwater day turned out soso…First cast before sunrise and there was no sun until at least 9am. Had 3 blowups and 2 landed…(**() good average, but wanted more. My anglers hammered them as hard as anyone can, they just didn’t want it. Almost forgot, 1 blue fish made the total 3 laned on TW.

Got a few on Gulp along an oyster bank…burned through 4 dozen shrimp with ZERO bites, except for pinfish.

What area Captain?

Topwater bite has been sporadic for me too lately. Switched over to jerkbaits when they’ve not wanted it on top and have been getting our arms broken.

what type of jerkbait do you prefer?

also, do you guys find that the color of the topwater plug makes a difference?

thanks

In the very early morning, I don’t think the color matters. I have an old brown, stained, scratched up skitter walk that I have been really successful with this year. IMO its more in how you work it.

I know that Skitterwalk and I can vouch for Opti that color does not matter. The Trout and Reds have beat the crap outa that thing!
