Set out yesterday morning with the goal of catching my first topwater trout. We fished the Wando between 526 bridge and Horlbeck creek around oyster rakes. I got about 5 to 6 hits / acrobactics and connected on 2 trout. I was using a mirrolure surface walker. Once the tide hit low we set off to fish some docks with trout tricks and redfish magic. No real strikes until the tide was atleast an hour back in, but we managed two more trout (trout tricks), 1 24" red (redfish magic) and a small flounder (redfish magic). We kept 1 trout for dinner. It was a great day and very exciting to catch trout on topwater. BTW it seemed like every boat in Charleston was out on the water. Good to see that everyone is taking advantage of the great weather.
Was the water clear or muddy?
BOB
remember, when they hit and miss keep on working the lure as if nothing happened and they will sometimes come after it again. Good luck , top water is so much fun.

The water was pretty muddy. Keeping the bait steady after a missed strike can be prety tough.
Yeah, it brought back a bunch of feelings of catching bass on topwater. I am totally hooked.
it is hard to do. Just have to stay calm and keep on walking the dog. I dont stop until I feel the fish on the end of the line! Then set hook and get excited.
