I was on Murray from 4:30 until 7:45 this evening. Got my 5 with 3 legits and 2 18 inchers. It took every bit that long to get them even though I was marking plenty. 4 out of the 5 were gotten by power reeling even though the the bait I got from Lakeworld was living well. They just seemed to have lockjaw… How’s the morning bite been this week?
Heard from a friend that the perch and largies were hitting the spoons earlier this week. I’ll be on call at work all of next week. Might try them late this evening or early tomorrow. If I hook any with stripes on them I’ll post a report. Caught quite a few with stripes on them about this time last year on the spoons. Most were between 14" and 16" and not as deep as the ones down the lake.
Thursday was my first time going in a week and we had 9 fish by 10 am. (We ran out of bait) the fish were being funny not really taking the bait. Friday we had our 15 fish limit by 9:30. Half of them were legit keepers and the others were 18-20 inches long. I’ll be back at it Tuesday!!!
The largemouth night bite is pretty good. Last Saturday we started at 4:00 AM and the bite was pretty much over by 8:30. If it stays really cloudy they might keep biting longer. The ones we caught were between 6’ and 20’ deep. Didn’t seem to be any consistency as to how deep they were holding. We did get very lucky and won the tournament.
Sorry guys didn’t mean to change stream on the striper thread.
Went out Friday night. Fished the mouth of Jake’s and the river area out from the towers. Started fishing at dark and fished to 3:00 am to get 12. Most fish were caught at 40 over 120 ftw. Two were keepers the rest shorts. The fish were biting funny like reel obsession mentioned and like Fogman said they were stacked everywhere. Tried power reeling no luck. Anyone have anymore tips for fishing slow biting fish? A friend of mine said I should have shortened my leader from about 2 1/2 ft to a foot or less.
I started trolling right at dark Sat. I was surprised to see how shallow they were suspended in the big water. Got legit keeper #2 about 9:45, then he got me. Still at the ER waiting to get a big treble hook out of my hand once again. Caught both trolling the low 40’s.
Trying bait in the morning if this Dr ever decides to show back up.
Dang Tim, that sucks! I assume the doc finally showed up. What time did you get out of there and were you able to go this morning?
I put in at the dam at 6:30 & cruised around, playing with my new toy. I marked a few but couldn’t get a bite. Ended up at the towers and caught a little 18 incher just as I was getting ready to leave. I would have hung around but I had already bagged up my bait & put it in the cooler. Oh well, it was 10:00 and I needed to get home to feed the dogs anyway. At least I caught 1.

Fog - we did pretty good yesterday morning. See my post on MSC forum. Fish were 50-60’ down, in water 80’ to over 100’ deep.
Caught several 24-26" fish yesterday which is always good to see on a down rod.
