Tough day in the water

Tough day on the water today. I tried a new flat and poled the skiff at high tide…knowing it was early for tailing reds but gave it a try anyway because it was out of the wind. Got a good workout and knocked the rust of on how to pole. Worked all day for a bite. Big water, deep drop offs. Slow current rips, fast current points, dirty water clean water. My 9-12:30 trip was a skunk. Ate lunch and regrouped hoping the lack of water would increase my chances. Tried my winter red hole and got one to bite. 20 inches. Then to my surprise I got a shakey head flounder. 14.5 in. Let them both back. Both on gulp shrimp. Dirty 71 degree water.
