TOUGH day - S4G report 1-May (pics)

Got the call from Holt-on to go on Thursday, well that that fell through and we had to go on Friday. The weather forecast was marginal and things did not exactly come together at home to go but I forced the issue and paid for it:angry:

Charliehorse, Holt-on, Pallet, Shotgun, and I headed out of Charleston at 5:30 and were greated with a SLOPPY ocean. Made the call at the end of the jetties to go to the GTH and not take the beating of the 226 course. Well we got beat up pretty good anyway and it took up much longer than I wanted to get there.

Lines in just short the the hole in 245feet of water. Holt on deployed his brand new ā€œDragon slayerā€ Zman bait and it paid off within a few minutes we had 3 in the box and the dragon came on the Zman bait, the other 2 were on LEHIs. It was looking like the day was going to turn around…

The next 2.5 hour brought a cold HEAVY rain shower and the loss of 1 by 1 all the electronics on the dash. Shotgun began pounding the beer in an attempt to change the luck. But it was to late Holt on was getting nervous that we would loose all electrial power and made the tough call to head in after only 3 hours of fishing. I grabbed my handheld and we set a course of 284degrees toward the hill. The ride in was fast until we got 15 miles from the jetties and we were beat up pretty bad for the remainder.

The excitement did not end here though. We blew out 2 trailer tires and a front tire on the truck between Charleston and Columbia. They did not go down all at the same time either more spread out to add to the fun.

Totals for the day
4 dolphin (1 big one)
2 225/75 R15 trailer tires
1 265/75 R17 F250 tire

Thanks to the Full Pull and Right RX for keeping an eye on us and trying to help out. Glad you boys got on them!! We finally found a good weedline as be picked up to run back in just to kind of rub it in a bit.

The crew was good and we did have a good time. I do think we would have found the fish if the day were not cut so short.

I would recomend dus

Sounds like your luck runs like mine.

I think we should start calling him Goober Grape. It fits better than the boat name.

It is okay to show your feeling.

why did the rain cause ur electronics to go out. maybe im missin somethin, but most boat electronics are mostly waterproof.

It was not rain related. I need to clarify. There is an electrical issue in his boat he thought was a bad battery. Everything was replaced last week but apparently it is not a battery and will require further investigation. We decided 65 miles from the hill was not a good place to begin this process.

Scoutin, your day sounds like ours, t-top snapped on us. That ocean was sloppy all day glad you boys made it in and caught some fish.

What size boat was that? Nice looking boat!

It is a 2006 Contender 31 fish around.

Or as I like to call it, the All Rise’s younger sister.

Behind this helm stands a sickness that not even a women can cure.

I had the same problem with my electronics. The fuse box(fuse block, what you call that thing?) they were all tied to in the console was corroded inside. I replaced the whole thing and problem solved, just not before ordering a new cable from Garmin.

Scoutin, can you tell me why pallet is so short in this pic?

Guess that wasn’t your lucky day. Well, at least you’ll get plenty of steaks out of that big boy.

Can not believe it… HoltOn didnt know someone to call and change those tires for him.
