Tournament/Get Together Saturday Oct 5

It’s about that time for another fall “Artificials Only” get together. With this date we won’t have any worries about the lake turning over this time and hopefully we will have some schooling going on and/or the fish will be tightly bunched up enough to make jigging spoons effective.

Early Oct should be some beautiful weather, so we’ll do this one more like we have with the summer get togethers. Starting off with a short tounament till about 11 or so and then grill up some burgers and hot dogs for lunch.

I really haven’t thought through all the details yet, but will be similiar to what we have done in the past.

Entry: $5/ person… same entry for kids (14 and under), but kids money will go to a seperate pot

Payout: Weigh in 1 fish/person, payout for 1st and 2nd biggest fish…kids and adults done seperately

Food: Probably will just add on some $/person (kids free)and pick it up myself. Easier than trying to keep track of who is bring what

Location: Hilton or Spence Islands…leaning toward Spence, but open to suggestions

Like I said, we can work out more specific details as it gets closer. I just wanted to put it out there now so anyone that is interested can make plans.

There’s quite a few new people that have started posting on here since the last time we’ve done something like this. Hopefully some of you guys can make it. Now that we all have seen each other’s bios, this is a good oportunity to put some faces with screen names.

For you guys who haven’t fished much with anything other than live bait, don’t let that stop you from coming on out. There are plenty of people on here that can help with getting set up and pointing you in the right direction. Heck, it’s worth $5 just get get a peak at what spoons Fogman has tied on .

Will update as it gets closer.

I should be in, I prefer Spence since I launch out of the Lexington and get 1 mpg

Spoons can indeed be deadly from the middle of this month until early November turnover. The bigger you can work, the better-- Hopkins, Berry’s, Slammers, Mann-o-Lures, Crippled Herrings, and, of course, Deadly D’s!

Sounds good to me! The Dr. said I should be able to fish by then but not to catch anything over 50 # keep us imformed!

If I still have a boat then I’m in. If no boat, maybe I can ride with someone.

Thanks for the offer Chip.
I won’t hold the no fish/bad conditions against you, as long as you won’t hold it against me for losing at least a couple of your spoons.

DTP, I’ll supply my mailing address and start getting people to send it to me about 2 weeks before. I don’t want to start taking it too early as people might have a change of plans between now and then.

Guess I will have to break out the trolling gear and dipsy divers. I rarley use it these days so I have no confidence. Sounds like fun though.

I’ve been debating about this and was wondering when it would come up. LOL

Last year we did allow trolling after seeing the lake turned over and knew the fishing would be tough…and it sure was!!! I specifically remember because my boat would have been skunked like most everyone else if I didn’t have downriggers. I say this time we go with no trolling. I think we got a much better date this time and the fish should be active and much easier to find. We should have a good shot at some topwater action as well as catching them jigging spoons.

I think part of what will make it fun is everyone being on pretty much a level playing field with basically the same type plugs and spoons. Looks like just a few more days of this heat and the water should start cooling down.

Sometime this weekend I’ll post details on start time, location,…etc

I want to go but I don’t have a boat. I’ll be willing to split the fuel expenses with someone. I’ve never caught a striper but I do believe I have sufficient gear for it. If anybody is interested in partnering up let me know. Message me if you’re interested.

I probably would have created another screen name before asking that around this neck of the woods. If someone does offer to take you, make sure you let someone know where you are and what time to expect you back…just sayin.

Since I’m a University of Miami fan I have no issue with Georgia fans …

I’m not sure if I’m taking my boat out and if I do I’m going to have a “Kids Only” crew … well … on account of the fact that I have so many …

it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish now!!!

So are we gonna be able to troll or not because We are not very good at jigging or using spoons I guess it’s just cause we use umbrella rigs when we are not live baitin
