I have a 22’ Scout bay boat with a T-Top and a double-axle trailer. I think the boat weighs between 2,700 and 3,000 lbs. I live near a ramp (about .5 miles away) in a neighborhood with tight corners and tight streets. The ramp is “normal” incline and has some slime at low tide like every ramp around here. Trailering with my Suburban is cumbersome and does not allow me to deposit the boat on my boat pad. I would like to get a small vehicle to make the whole set-up more manueverable. Tractor or ATV? Tractors are more expensive than I realized and I can’t get a concrete answer on whether a quad ATV or a Kawasaki Mule, Yamaha Rhino, or similar could handle the job. I don’t need to go fast with the trailered boat, just 10-15mph. What is my most affordable option that will do the job? Any color appreciated. Thanks
One thing you need to consider on any of your choices is to make sure that the vehicle is street legal and registered. If not, it could lead to unneeded problems.
I used to pull my 21’ CC around the yard with a small Yanmar compact tractor. The tractor would be my choice. May have to add a couple of weights to the front-end.
John deere gator, its alot of machine. You can adjust the suspension to handle the load and its got plenty of power and the 825i is quick(45mph)! Buy the jump seat for the back and carry 4 people comfortably and still go wherever you want to. About $12,000 and your set!

id get a CJ 5 or CJ 7. Whatever they say the gator, rtv kubota, etc… aint gonna do like a jeep.

towing capacity on typical atv like Honda foreman etc is 850lbs so for long distance 1-2mile tow would probably not work

Tongue weight is your obstacle with the UTV option. The suspensions aren’t designed to support that kind of weight. It would probably do it, but it would tight. You best option is a small tractor no question.
I want to be there when you back it down the ramp.

I don’t want to be rich,
I just want 1 dollar more than I can spend!
It’s not the towing it’s the stopping.
I’d be more inclined to agree with the jeep… I pull a 221 scout winyah with a Ford ranger. V6 4.0 pulls and stops the boat just fine. I try not to ride on anyone’s @$$ tho just in case.
