Looking for some suggestion’s on a decent trail camera from those of you with some experience.
I haven’t used trail cameras much, and don’t really know where to start on researching. I am looking for something that will take both day and night pictures black and white at night is ok, not really interested in video, but time date stamp, maybe moon phase and temperature would be helpful. Don’t really want to spend over 100. Thanks for the advice.
There are a bunch out there and like any camera the features are pretty similar but buttons are in different spots. I have four months experience using my current one and am well pleased so far.
Moultrie 990i, on eBay for $109 shipped to my door. IR flash so the deer can’t see it. Takes great video, but I find that I would rather have the stills too. Great night time shots compared to other examples I’ve seen from different cameras in the hundred dollar range. Cuddleback makes excellent products from what I’ve read too. Don’t forget you’ll need to buy a memory card; I bought a 32 gb thinking I would fill it up frequently… Not the case. At the highest quality level pictures, a week gives me around 1000 pictures and I’ve never filed more than 10% of the card. Unless you’re going to use the video alot or leave the camera for months at a time, you can go with the 8 or 16 gb cards. I only say this because I had several 8 gb cards laying around that I wasnt using and I still bought the bigger sd card.
Takes 8 AA batteries and on picture mode they last me two months. I use rechargeables so it doesn’t really bother me. Video will eat the battery quickly though.
Mine has time, date, temp, moon phase.
Again, I’ve only had this one for months, but I’m impressed with it so far.

My favorite was my wild game innovations camera. Now it’s someone else’s favorite since they decided to steal it. . My replacement is a primos workhorse and it doesn’t miss a beat. Pretty good little camera.

had a couple stolen as well. My neighbor was telling me about one that the camera is separate from the unit holding the memory card with 20 or so yard radius that you can hide. They steal the camera, but you still have the picture.
Anyone familiar with this? Not the style that reports back to your computer or phone.
No I’m not familiar with that one. Sounds pretty cool though. I use a steel box that is bolted into the tree now. The box has a huge padlock on it and the camera is inside the box. So far so good with that set up.

Pretty sure that’s the older version of what Moultrie is making now.
I think that’s the one that they had at Walmart on clearance for $50 not too long ago. If that’s that one, it takes good day time photos but not good night time. The delay is bad too, you’ll miss stuff for sure.
I’d check the reviews on it before you buy it.
I read this on a review, “the shortest delay setting is 1 minute, so no matter what is going on, you cannot take pictures any faster than 1/min.”

Anybody got any dead camera’s they want to throw away?
My brother and I are starting to look at trail cameras to place on our parents estate house in upstate Georgia. I’d love to place a bunch of camera’s around to deter theft…I’d like 1-2 good ones hidden in a bunch of dead one’s.
So if anyone has a dead trail camera sitting around taking up garage space…holler, I’ll put it to work as a decoy!

I went with the Stealth Cam P12. It was only 54.00 on Amazon Prime with free two day shipping. I don’t do a lot of scouting by cameras so cheaper was the ticket. I am pleased so far.
Couple of suggestions, get one with a trigger speed of a second or less, you will miss animals if you don’t. Second, get one that is a no flash camera, if you don’t deer will become spooky, you will have deer looking at your camera every time if you go with a flash at night.
