Trailer Axle

I need to replace the axle on my aluminum trailer. You guys know a good place to get one in the Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area?

Ditto Tommy. He did mine last week. I broke a spring and decided it was time to go torsion bar. I knew the axels were a little rusty. Harris showed me the axels he removed. I was one pothole away from disaster! The spindels were very badly rusted. Good work and I think the price was fair.

Yes iFly, Ditto on The Trailer Shop

Hey guys, when you mention price was fair, what price range, I’m in need to replace an axle myself and just curious what I may need to budget for. I’ve got a 17 foot boat, single axle trailer, I"m in Columbia and don’t have the luxury to make it to charleston for replacement

please advise, thanks in advance

you should call wesco trailers in cayce best price in the state you can get the entire axel for about 100.00 thats hubs bearings leaf springs with studs all together all you have to do is pull the old one out and take it to them they will match it up you can get it with or without springs its about 25 dollars difference very easy to install

Thanks, guys. Tommy (The Trailer Shop) is putting one together for me. I appreciate everyones response.

Wow, a FULL set-up w/ axle, hubs, springs for $100??? REELY???

yep! and dat’s the truth. sorta. maybe. close to a hunnert.

WOW!</font id=“size6”>

I’ve used Wesco Trailers in Cayce many times. The service is great and the people are very friendly. That alone is worth paying a few extra bucks. Plus, the cost is FAR below anyone else I’ve come across. It’s a no-brainer…go with Wesco if you’re in the Columbia area.

$100 for a torsion axel? What size? Very hard to reconcile that with the prices in wholesale parts catalogs. I just wasted a grand at Tommy’s I guess.

they are all talking about springs above – torsions dont have springs…

owned by trailer bearings…

None other than Tommy Stone!

I don’t think I’m allowed to post my opinion on this topic as the last thread where I described my experience with Tommy Stone and the trailer shop was deleted.

I would go anywhere but there, for a couple of reasons. PM me if you’d like details since you can only kiss his backside in the threads here.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>I think I will use my personal experience to judge his worth. I have zero problem recommending Tommy Stone to anyone. Before I had this axle made, I didn’t know Tommy from ‘Adam’s House Cat’. He gave me an axle that is heavier (thicker steel) than any I have ever seen and it comes with a life time guarantee. But, thanks anyway for the offer, jerms.

Glad you had a good experience

It really sucks to get bad service and I did read your (jerms) pervious thread. If this guy or any other store/shop screwed me over I would want to let people know. It didn’t happen in this case but that is NO guarantee for the next guy.
