Trailer Bearing tightening

Every time I install new bearings I can never seem to get the new bearings seated right. I initially tighten them as much as I can, back off until the hub spins with some drag, then lock the nut in place.

After I drive a while, they are loose again. I had to turn a nut tonight almost two full turns. What am I experiencing here? If I understood it, I would probably not do it everytime. Wheel bearing have always been an PIA for me.

Are the bearing races seated fully?

Make sure the races are fully seated I the back of the hub first off. Next as I tighten the nut i spin tire hard and tighen, loosen, tighten, loosen…etc…repetitively for 3-4 times making to make sure everything is seated snugly. Then retighten to a snug fit and lock nut in. If that still causes u to have to tighten the nut a bunch then ur hub is worn out or something is missing/wrong and hire a professional.
