Trailer for long trips

OkI am getting closer to getting a trailer. Looking at Malone, Trailex, Triton and Load rite so far. I know I can get a small boat or Jet Ski trailer for less but I want to do this once and do some 400-500 mile trips with it and will be towing it with a 4cyl engine so weight is at a premium. Most of these do not have any type of storage so that is one negative, anybody here have any experience with any of these trailers and recommendations.

Those store bought yak trailers are nice but too $$$ for me. I have a jon boat trailer and plans to convert it to hold up to 4 yaks and plan on having a lockable box for storage on it. Let us know what you end up getting.

You’ve seen my rig. It’s been to FL a couple of times, GA, a couple of times and has about 11k miles on it over the past 2 years

There’s a trailex trailer on the jax board right now. Looks like a good deal.

I saw the trailex, but to add the conversion kit I am at a new trailer price.

I borrowed a buddies 14ft. Jon Boat and it has one of those trailers, Yes it is cheap, but it does the job well for a lightweight boat.
This is the one he has.

Do you have a truck? I have a pickup, and find a $75.00 truck bed extender is all I need. But if you have the right hitch, you can put it even on a car.

No I have a 2012 Ford focus, I have racks and both yaks fit on top fine. I wanted to save fuel mileage and wear and tear(rust) on the car. I do go thru the wand car washes after each trip on the way home. But just talked to my dealer again and since the car was not rated to tow in US (was in Europe and Canada)a tow hitch(think rear bike racks) is fine but if wired for lights would void warranty on transmission, so trailer is off for 3 yrs or 30,000 miles which is only 10-12 months away with the miles I drive.

Check these guys out. I was looking for something that would hold everything I could need for a trip, survive longs drives, and carry up to 6 PA’s. (Not that I own that many ) They were very helpful in answering all of my trailer, axle, load, bearing questions. I have blown two tires and a set of bearings over the past two years because of heat build up over long distances at highway speeds. They offer all kinds of options.

I will hopefully be able to assemble mine soon. I have have pics from start to finish.
