I’ve probably replaced my trailer jack three times in 13 years…Once, it was because a boat repair service decided to drag my trailer around without cranking it up out of the way and destroyed it…anyway, just a reminder that those things require some grease from time to time…I was in a hurry last Monday to unhook the boat from my Bronco and sure enough, the gears went out in it and I had to grab the floor jack to get unhooked… I figured there goes another hundred bucks to replace it but then I found out that you can buy the replacement gears dirt cheap and disassembly and repair is easy. Only cost me 5 bucks for the repair kit and 10 bucks for shipping…Just thought I would pass that along FYI…
Or, you could go to Northern Tool and buy a complete new trailer jack for $20.00.

I found that if you saltwater fish, you better put some grease on it everytime you go to salt water. That salt eats the grease up big time.
Rick,
I bought one of those and it was almost impossible to crank my boat up, there is a reason it is $20. Probably fine for a light boat, but not my tank.
Wellcraft V-20 sportfish with a 200 Evinrude
Worked great on my trailer with a Kawasaki Mule on it!
Thats pretty dang inexpensive I have to admit, but mine is welded to the trailer and that style wouldn’t work for me…and 15 bucks is still cheaper. Its just two gears, two pins, and the crank handle to take apart, add some grease…one big 3/4 inch nut holds my jack to the mount thats welded to the trailer frame…
Now I got to go see Lee Thomas at the Goodyear store for a trailer tire. Mine developed a bubble in the sidewall and I heard it “pop” about 2 miles from my house…But oddly enough it was still holding air and leaking slowly when i backed it down my driveway…About 1/4 of the entire outer casing of the sidewall is separated from the steel belts. Never had one do that before…

If you’ve had fun catching fish on the transom bait, you are welcome…
I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…

Or use the right grease.
