Trailer light troubleshoot

I have everything working except for the right blinker. The right light lights up and shows nicely when the brake is applied. Everything else is perfect. Any suggestions? The number one suggestion I see regarding trailer lights is check the ground, and I did, anything else?

Blinker bulb. Or bad connection for blinker wire at plug or at light fixture.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. FISH 24/7---- 25 Grady w/ a couple of Gas Guzzling 175 Johnsons “O-SEA-D” the old “Havanadaydream”

Those dang trailer lights have bothered me for years . get them all working and six moths to one year later they are bad again. Mine has only one blinker and break light that works. SO,If you see a guy w a boat and his left blinker is on but he turns right, its me. I figure if they see a blinker they will stop. May think i am an idiot but its gets the job done. Of couse i do this for turns only not lane changes.

The blinker and stop lights are the same wire from the connector back. If the brake works (assuming you have the correct bulb), the problem isn’t the trailer wiring …

Fuse under the hood?

Had the running lights out on the trailer due to blown 15A fuse under the hood specifically for the trailer running/park lights. Blinkers, brakes, etc. all worked.

I’m with the others here if your running light and brake light both work, its more than likely a fuse. If so something is causing the fuse to blow, which is more than likely a grounding issue, such as metal to metal contact somewhere.

trailer lights are overrated, leave early no traffic…On your way home your on your own.

Or move to a house with a landing in the neighborhood that’s 2 lots away. I only use trailer lights and transom straps every month or so when i go to get fuel.

try changing the bulb from the left to the right,if that works then get a new bulb.if not, clean the contacts,or check and see if the bulb is in the correct way.

Double D.

Fuse under hood/dash

I’ve got a vehicle/ trailer plug with test lights on it. It saves you some time by letting you know if the problem is on the tow vehicle or the trailer.

If you ain’t hooked, you ain’t doing it right.

I’m no expert, but like anyone else who owns a boat, I’ve had plenty of trailer light issues and the fact that your right brake light works and blinker doesn’t is really odd. They are both wired to the vehicle with one connection. There are 2 filiments in the bulb and both the blinker and brake use same one. The other is your running lights. So, the fact that your brake lights work eliminates the bulb/connection as the problem. The connection to the right blinker is the one on the outside of the connector of the set of 3 that are together. The one by itself is ground.

The wires on the vehicle end are connected to the wiring that goes to the bulbs in the vehicle, so if you had a blown fuse causing any issues you should see it on the vehicle as well.

Is the blinker on the vehicle definately working when the one on the trailer isn’t?

Edit to add: I just saw DueSouth’s pic. Without one of those connectors you can always also check that the vehicle end with a digital multimeter, Looking at the pic the connections are left to right…right blinker/brake----left blinker/brake---- running lights----gnd
