Bought a set of submerssible (or however you spell it) lights for the trailer. Hooked them up and everything was fine except when the running lights are on, pressing the brakes makes all the lights go out. I figured the ground must be bad at the hitch, I had recently replaced this also. Go out this morning to work on the ground, get it grounded better, and now the only thing that will work is the running lights. No brakes, no blinkers, nothing. Any ideas?
I would check the connecter at your vehicle first. I had an old trailer connecter/plug that I used. I just stripped the wires and used my volt meter to check all the functions, running lights, left/right turn, brake. If that’s all good on the vehicle, I would double check the ground like you mentioned, check the mounting points on your lights for rust, because that’s where they are grounded to your trailer. Then trace all of the wires to make sure they’re hooked up green to green, yellow to yellow, etc. And of course check all of the bulbs.
I hope this helps.

I had the samething happen to me>>replaced the plug-in and no more lite problems…Dont fight it, just shuck out the $20.00 and be done with it…![]()
You can buy a “light checker” that is about 2 bucks at advance walmart etc. They plug into the output plug from SuV or truck and allow you to check your plug. IMO everyone should have one saves alot of time I keep mine in my door pocket and use it often as first check at beginning of season/problems
