Trailer parts

Need to do some mid season trailer parts replacements. Who do you recommend near west Ashley/north chuck? I just need parts and I’m going tho install myself. Replacing everything except the axle and leafs, those are new last year.

I know west marine has them, but their prices are outrageous and I would rather buy from a local guy anyways and not some giant chain.

Go to Iron Knight Trailers in N Chas…behind Gas Light Square…he has everything for every trailer I have ever worked on!

I have used Charleston Trailer a few times. They seem to have the lowest prices and Steve was very helpful.

Fritz? Lol. He selling trailer parts now?

Replaced winch and strap today along with new tires. New front roller too. Had to cut the old brackets off. It wasn’t too bad. Replaced with stainless, shouldn’t have that problem again.

No real trailer maintenance since 1998… it shows.

Next I need to replace the back and middle rollers and then redo the bunk brackets… new lights, then that should last me a while.

I ordered the bunk brackets off the web, I’ll look on my laptop for the link. Shipping was free & cheap. Got the stainless u-bolts @ seels. Every bolt I’ve replace I’ve done with stainless & anti-seized them. It was good when I had to replace an axle as I was able to unbolt those nuts & bolts.

I did go to buy some parts from Sonny at Iron Knight. He had everything I needed but one part, but he was certainly a pleasure to work with and a wealth of knowledge. He went out of his way to make sure I had the correct parts and I knew what I was doing when installing them.

For the one part he didn’t happen to have in stock, I went to West Marine nearby on Rivers. No one there seemed interested in helping me at all, but I did end up finding the part eventually.

Customer service goes a long way with me and I’ll be back.

charleston trailer just did me pretty decent on a complete axle build plus zinc ubolts and leafs

Bought axles from Sonny & he had the best price around & beat online prices as well. He tried to get me to use zinc instead of stainless, but I refused.
