Trailer parts

Getting rid of the skid bunks under the SV1900 seapro. They make getting it on and off the trailer a pain.

What is better to use keel rollers or pivot bar assemblies? The trailer has two large bunks that support 1/2+ of the hull length now.

Where is the best place to buy trailer parts?

Thanks

Charleston Trailer on Dorchester Rd had everything I needed at better prices than I found online. Steve I think was the guys name! He even stayed after hours for me cause I couldn’t make it on time! They are top notch in my book!

Hummm, did not know anything about them. I will check that out!

Thank you

My advice would be to stay with the bunk boards on your trailer. The roller bunks and pivot bar assemblies work nice but they corrode and then cause problems after a year or so of use. I think the salt water is just too harsh on them.
I recommend getting a product called liquid rollers. It is basically a silicone spray. You off load your boat and just spray this stuff on the bunk boards. This product works really well. One thing to remember though is Do Not unhook your winch hook until you have the boat down in the water and ready to launch. Trust me on this. The first time I used it my boat almost slid off the trailer halfway down the ramp! That was hairy but I learned my lesson. Try that stuff first. It really works.

Interesting idea. The main problem I have is that I have to basically sit the back of the truck in the water to get the boat off. There isn’t much way to adjust the bunks to change in applied pressure angles of decent verse the angle of the average boat ramp. Hence, the back bunk drop out and the front hold 2/3 of the weight of the non-displaced hull. This also is responsible for the issue of recovery. During the summer, sure jump in and crank that handle, when it turns colder, not so much.

Could you tell me a place that sells it locally?

Thanks

Thanks for the info on liquid rollers, sure makes sense! I to have a problem with my new trailer unloading on dry bunks. Thaught I might replace the carpet with starboard to see if that would help. I have a full roller trailer on an other boat and its unreal how it works, to weel some times!!

Just checked it out on the net and found NAPA has it for $12.00 and West Marine for 14.95!

Cheap old silicon spray works well. I have also used Pam which is cheap

I had the thought of wiping them down with white lithium grease since it would match the hull. There is a point when you’re doing something the red necking banjos are playing too loud.

When I was short on time this past summer I let Steve do some work on my suspension and throw on some new hubs for me. Fantastic job…really quick and an affordable and fair price. I’ve bought from him since then and will continue too.

You could also buy bunk slides at west marine. They just screw into your bunks and allow much easier unloading of your boat at the launch ramp. But these too will require you to be cautious while backing down the ramp, definitely keep your boat attached to the winch until in the water.
