I got a hub that is warming up and smells like it is burning. Going to take the tire off and see if it is something stuck in the brakes or if I need to replace the bearings and or hub assembly. Dexter axles.
What is the best shop around town for trailer hubs and or parts?
Can’t go wrong with Charleston Trailer or Iron Knight Trailers in my opinion. It’s not likely that hub prices are going to vary more than a few dollars in town, just make sure you don’t get the ones from Northern tool unless you’re in a pinch. They have a cheap petroleum lube in theirs and have a terrible life expectancy for a marine environment, even if you push most of that grease out with good grease… Ask me how I know.

Thanks bud! I just called and they have what I need. Going to pull the hub off in the morning and go get a replacement plus a extra.
I need to get this trailer squared away. I want to start doing some trips to North Carolina, Florida, and the Gulf.

No problem! Glad it worked out. Always a good idea to carry a spare hub and some tools to do the repair on the road, especially when you’re travelling those distances and can’t just call a buddy to the rescue.
