I have a new trailer for a 17 ft CC. My problem is sometimes it bangs up the gel coat from the fwd support on the trailer. There is only a little piece of plastic there to protect it half way through the support. Any ideas on what to put down there to prevent it. I have seen towels duct taped to the support, but was trying for a little more permanent fix. Any help would be appreciated.
You may need to move the bunks in closer if possible (not to close together already) or just raise them some. This will help keep the bow from plowing into the front support

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the trailer when I had the boat at the dock. The bunks are welded in place. I wondered if there was something that I could put on there to prevent the scrapes. I try backing in to a certain distance, but it never fails, some jack*** goes flying past the dock and the wake pushes the boat or when the wake goes back out, takes water away. Thanks in advance for any help.
I have the same problem. My plastic has cracked from being slammed. I don’t back the trailer down so much and winch the rest of the way. I was thinking about trying to install a roller.
Are you talking about the support ‘under’ the boat, or the winch area?
If under the boat, there is a “Y” shaped support you can get that attaches to the crossmember of the trailer and has a plastic pad in the center w/ 2x PVC type pipe covering the rest of the metal of the “Y”. It is a LOT better than rollers, cause you can still get off center once in a while and scrape the bow on the outer roller support. If its at the winch, increase the size/width of the ‘bumper’ at the winch support.
It is definetely under. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely check into it. Thanks again.

Sounds like a trailer set up issue. You might consider taking the rig somewhere that sells trailers and pay them a few bucks to adjust the bunks to solve the issue once and for all. Good Luck.
