transducer placement

Does anybody have any suggestions on where they placed a transom mount transducer on a 162 sportfish scout. The old one was on the very bottom right beside the plug. The only problem with this is when fishing in shallow water i bumped the bottom and it broke off. Anybody with any better ideas on a location.
Thanks

It’s right where it is supposed to be. How did you hit the bottom hard enough to break it off and not damage the lower unit? If it projects below the bottom line of the boat you might raise it up to flush but that will probably affect the performance at cruise.

I wasnt underpower when it broke loose. I was up in a very shallow creek and I am assuming when we were bumping on the bottom it broke loose from the mount. I didnt realize it at the time and then when we got out into open water and took off I noticed it was still not reading but by that time the puck had either been cut off by the prop or just pulled loose from the wire at speed. All I know is I looked back and there was just a wire hanging out the back of the boat.
The next one I put in I just epoxied it to the bottom of the bilge and it read pretty well, but I would like to get a temperature reading so I am going to mount the new one to the transom again.

what unit? you should be able to buy a seperate temp sensor and continue to run the xducer inside the hull.
