I have a Garmin 441 S installed which uses the dual frequency transducer. I was given a 740 S without a transducer, normally uses the 1k transducer. What would happen if I plugged up the dual frequency to the 740 S. Anything, nothing, work but a less level, explode?

I don’t think it will mess anything up if you try it. If it isn’t compatible, it just won’t work. If the plugs are the same, I would bet it will. I have a 740 with the regular old dual frequency transducer and it works fine.

Second question, for an inshore boat is there enough difference between the dual and 1k to replace it?
